The dual theme of this forum is “Translational Research – from The Lab to The Market Place, and Building Your Talent Pipeline”. The forum will feature a faculty panel discussion on the state of translational research and presentations several our top students who are currently conducting collaborative research with 3 key faculty members.

BS and MS Candidate, Bemin Ghobreal/Dr. Tara L Alvarez – Directs Research on Understanding Brain Function
PhD Candidates, Mevan Siriwardane and Joseph Loverde/ Dr. Bryan J Pfister – A Specialist in Neural Tissue Engineering
The BME Department has built a considerable research program with support from such agencies as the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, Essilor, Inc., and the Iowa Corn Promotion Board. Research areas of concentration include stem cell applications in tissue regeneration, vision and neural engineering, bioMEMS, motion analysis and rehabilitation engineering, biomaterials and biopolymers.
