American Cryostem Corporation
American CryoStem is a life sciences company, founded in 2008 and headquartered in Red Bank. The company has created and commercialized patented products and a proprietary platform to clinically process and cryopreserve adipose tissue, adipose derived stromal vascular fraction (SVF), adipose derived stem cells, and other regenerative cells. The company’s product development is based on this core intellectual property and other proprietary technologies for consumer cellular therapy, regenerative medicine applications, and commercial applications. The company maintains a clinical tissue processing and banking facility in Mount Laurel and is developing additional products and services through existing and future collaborations and partnerships.
Aptalis Pharmatech, Inc.
Aptalis Pharma is a privately held, leading specialty pharmaceutical company providing innovative, effective therapies for unmet medical needs, including cystic fibrosis and gastrointestinal disorders. Aptalis has manufacturing and commercial operations in the United States, the European Union, and Canada. The company’s mission is to improve health and quality of care by providing specialty therapies for patients around the world.
Aptalis Pharmaceutical Technologies formulates and clinically develops enhanced pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical products for the Aptalis pipeline and partners leveraging proprietary Pharmaceutical Technology platforms, including bioavailability enhancement of poorly soluble drugs, custom-release profiles, and taste-masking of dosage forms, including orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs).

BioNJ welcomes the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency as a new International Member for 2012.
The Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE)
The Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE) is a private, nonprofit and apolitical organization. During its 25 years, CINDE has attracted more than 200 companies to Costa Rica, including worldwide leaders such as Intel, Procter and Gamble, Hospira, Baxter, St. Jude Medical, Western Union, and many others.
CINDE ranks among the Top 10 best-practice Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) worldwide, according to the 2009 Global Investment Promotion Benchmarking of the Investment Climate Advisory Service (FIAS) of the World Bank Group. It also participates in internationally recognized forums that are related to monitoring and promoting foreign investment, such as the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA).
Some of the services provided by CINDE at no cost to the investing companies are:
- Assisting in the site selection due-diligence process by providing detailed information on the country and its advantages and organizing customized investment agendas
- Meeting the investor’s needs, arranging meetings with service providers, government organizations, universities, real-estate brokers, attorneys, accountants, industrial parks, and office parks
- Facilitating direct contacts and links with potential investors from North America and other countries through CINDE’s office in New York
- Providing specialized support once the company has established in the country for strategic aspects geared to new operational expansion projects or promoting product diversification.

- For commercial products, DoseCue’s proven compliance increase improves patients’ outcomes, which reduces their total healthcare costs and boosts revenue in the pharmaceutical supply chain.
SOEMS Corporation is an intellectual property and development company with clinical programs involving neurologic, dermatologic, and body composition areas. Current interests involve repositioning approved compounds for new uses, such as spasticity and paroxysmal leg movements, and producing new products to counteract dermatoporosis and aspects of facial photoaging and ameliorate the pain and suffering of minor burns, including scald burns.

FDU Medco School of Pharmacy
The Medco School of Pharmacy at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison officially launched in February 2011. Leaders expect to enroll the first class of students in the fall of 2012. Students enrolled in the program will have completed a baccalaureate degree. Students will receive a doctor of pharmacy or master’s degree upon the successful completion of four years of study and practice. The school will award master’s of pharmaceutical science and master’s of health science degrees with concentrations in regulatory affairs, clinical research methods, bioinformatics, and health communications, and others to be developed. Medco School of Pharmacy’s doctor of pharmacy program has applied for accreditation status by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.
