BIOLINES
April
2010
A Word from Debbie Hart, President
of BioNJ
Flags flew at half-staff as
did spirits throughout New
Jersey in recent weeks at the loss of
the
"happy warrior," the Honorable Bob Franks. New
Jersey will never be quite the same
without
this understated yet powerful statesman.
As President of the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey
(HINJ), Bob
Franks was an important partner for us here at BioNJ and he will
be
sorely missed. He was taken much
too quickly and much too young and our thoughts and prayers are
with his
wife, Fran, and his three precious daughters, Kelly, Sara and
Abigail.
Bob's passing reminds us of our mission here at BioNJ to support
the
advancement of therapies and cures and we hope this will serve as
inspiration to lawmakers and others to do whatever is in their
power to
do so as well.
In that vein, we traveled to Washington,
D.C. recently for
the BIO
Day on the Hill where we and the Biotechnology Industry
Organization
(BIO) honored Senator Robert Menendez for his important work and
leadership on the Therapeutic Discovery Project Credit. We continue to work with BIO as they
work with The U.S. Department of the Treasury in developing the
program’s
regulations and processes. We will
keep members informed regularly along the way.
This program will roll out over the
next few months. Watch for a second webinar announcement shortly
from
BIO.
